We left home about 9am, got onto Route 81 south and drove until we got to Roanoke, Va. Drove through Roanoke and got onto Route 221 south until we got to the campground around 3:30- 4pm. Got setup, then just talked and
met some of the rally people, some as far away as Georgia. The campground has beautiful view of mountains ranges.

Friday, May 23
We really didn't do much today, just stood around and talked. Ken helped a guy put on a Hensley Hitch, with plenty onlookers. At 5pm we carpooled to Pine Tavern, north of the town of Floyd. We had a family style dinner with fried chicken and pulled pork as entrees. After dinner we drove into the town of Floyd to the Friday night jamboree. With people playing gospel, bluegrass, and old time music, with dancing feet along the street and in Floyd's Country Store. We didn't sit inside the store, boy was it hot in there, we walked along the Main Street and watched the other jammers. We had returned after dark, so we didn't get to see the sunset.

Sat. May 24
We left the campground following another couple into the town of Roanoke to the Virginia Museum of Transportation, see a train that was being sent off to South Carolina to be restored. They had different trains, buses, vehicles, and even miniature trains set up. We had walked around, saw what we wanted to see and then went back to camp.

The campground had dinner for all people that were camping at 6pm and then we had a community campfire. Not a good night for sunset.
