Next morning we had a cruise tour on Itasca Lake upon Chester Charles II River Boat, tour was two hours long and narrated by the captain of the boat. All along the shoreline there was wild rice growing, we had seen two bald eagles and a loon fishing, and from the top of the lake we saw the headwaters of the Mississippi River. After the cruise we had driven to the headwaters, this is where the Mississippi River starts, it then flows north to Lake Bemidji, then east through two small lakes, and then into Cass Lake before heading south.
Headwaters of the Mississippi River
Ken hadn't gone along today because he wasn't feeling well and I rode with the leaders. We had eaten in the cafeteria at the the headwaters and had the most wonderful wild rice soup, this area is well known for the wild rice which is grown around the area. We had stopped at a stand and bought some wild rice before returning back at camp.
After returning, we had our first GAM (get acquainted meeting) with four other couples.
Today, Ken and I went back to Lake Itasca, so he could see where the Mississippi River starts, he was impressed also, to see how small the river really is when it starts.

This evening we have an ice cream social and a drivers meeting, before our move tomorrow.
