After settling into our site and having a cookout of soup, that every one donated a can of soup, they mixed them all together with some tomatoes and spices, very good. We had a campfire until it started to rain, we had a quest speaker, an 84 year old First Nation man, that didn't speak English, his daughter came and translated for us, quite interesting. He had spoke about the flooding that they had earlier, just a few weeks ago and an earthquake they had the end of May, where some of their houses now have water bubbling up inside.

On Thursday, July 18, we made a trip to Columbia Icefield on the Icefields Parkway. The parkway traverses high elevation (6,850 ft) mountain terrain. In the winter, there are special considerations for driving this road including the absence of services. Snow tires are required Nov. 1 to March 31 or any other period during which the highway is covered with snow or ice. The drive along this parkway is fabulous with different views in both directions. We then had a tour of the Athabasca Glacier, we rode a chartered bus and then rode on the ice buggies. We had gotten off the buggies and walked on the ice and got a drink from a small fall of the melting ice or snow.

After our tour, we had buffet luncheon on the second floor of the Visitors Center. We then had free time to walk to the glacier if you wanted to, I don't think anyone did though. On our return back, we stopped at different water falls and an overlook of the creek and road, and stopped a watched a black bear looking for something to eat.

We've had a campfire every night, there was four couples that sat out at the campfire in the rain on Wed. night, holding umbrellas, we were one of them, had a great time talking.
On Friday, July 19, we had a breakfast pitch- in, which every one brings something. We had divided into two groups, one had pancakes the other had biscuits and gravy, we were with the biscuits and gravy, which was really tasty. I had made hot dogs and eggs, we also had three different fruit bowls and oatmeal. We then took a hike behind our campsite on a ledge where you could see the campground and everything surrounding it. We had also watched some young high school group repelling off the rock ledge. Another group went to see the old sweat huts and prayer trees.

Later in the day, we had a Dutch Oven cobblers, peach, cherry, peach & blueberries, chocolate, & bourbon plus vanilla ice cream. We also got news that one of the members brother had died, she had decided to continue with the caravan, because he had pasted on Wed. and today was Friday. We had also had a person taken to the hospital this morning after fainting and having a low heart rate, thanks to the doctor that is with us, he was having a pace maker installed tonight and hopefully will join use in a few days, it all depends on what the doctors say, if he must go home or can finish the caravan.

We than had a drivers meeting and sat by the fire until 10:30, which was still light outside.
