July 3, We had driven 70 miles before stopping south of Wasilla on Knik-Goose Bay road, on Lake Lucille Park, $20 a night with electric hook-up. After arriving, and getting set up, we had driven back a short way to the Museum of Alaska Transportation and Industry, we decided not to go in, didn’t really look too interesting, then drove to the Veteran’s Memorial, but didn’t get out there neither, they where watering the grass and we would of gotten all wet. We then headed south to WalMart, this is the largest WalMart in the state, as reported by Anchorage’s newspaper, has sold more duct tape than any other WalMart in the world, it was very busy, probably because of 4th of July holiday. Returned back to camp, I walked down to the lake side and watched people swimming, pretty big lake. Made steak for dinner with potatoes done on the grill, real tasty.
July 4, Decided to go for a drive today, drove down the Knik-Goose Bay Road, which is only about 20 miles long. The drive wasn’t that great, nothing really to see, we then turned onto Point Mackenzie Road, which was only about another 13 miles, it then ended into a secure area, but we could see the lake, this drive wasn’t nothing really that great neither. Ken made the statement that he would rather drive in Pa then on this road. We came back to camp, ate lunch, walked down to lake to watch people swim, it’s hot here at 85*, setting records in the area
